Founded in 1990 as a volunteer effort to provide
counselling services to victims of family violence
and sexual abuse. At that time is registered as a non-governmental organization (NGO).

By 1996 the needs for SWAGAA services and requests for education required full-time staff.

| By 1999 there was:

- 4 permanent staff
- 10 volunteers
|
- 840 cases of abuse reported
- only one site: Manzini
|
| 2000 was a turning point |
- Toll free line #95 installed in late 1999
- Result: over 4000 abuse cases reported in both 2000 and 2001 (includes telephone and face to face cases)

| In 2003 the head office launches it's official permanent site in Manzini |

- Access to counselling with 9 satellite offices and the head office in Manzini
- Requests for education and training programs on abuse by schools, health professionals, government, and churches
- Violence in Swaziland
- Victims needing counselling and support
